Friday, February 27, 2009 Watched the last episode of 1 Litre Of Tears yesterday. Cried 3 times... For those who don't know, 1 litre of tears is a japanese drama based on true story of a 15 year old girl who have an incurable disease known as spinocerebellar degeneration disease. It's a disease which due to unknown causes, the cerebullum shrinks and affects your spinal cord, resulting in the loss of speech, and immobility of your 4 limbs, without affecting the mind. A fate worse than death imo. The drama is a re-enactment of her life ,as described from her diary, from when she was diagnosed with the disease till her death in her twenties. How normal things became diffcult. How she became disabled, how she eventually cudnt talk.
At first i didn really feel anything in the first few episodes. But after awhile, the drama got to me. One of the lines in the drama which really got to me was "Why did this disease choose me?" It made me wonder why is it that such a cheerful and nice girl get such a cruel disease. And i began to realise how precious this good life god has given me, the health god has given me and how precious little things that normal humans do not appreciate are. Walking, talking and even eating and swallowing food. These things that some cannot enjoy. From the drama, "I realise now how health is such a blissful thing". I was able to relate to the drama probably because i have asthma. Running ,which is easy for most people, is such a hard task for me. I get breathless very easily. Waking up in the middle of the night coz i cant breathe properly. I too wonder why asthma chose me. I want to be able to run freely without getting breathless and tired too fast.
After watching the drama, it opened my heart and eyes. It made me feel more confident of my choice to apply for the biomedical science in SP. I will become a researcher one day, and i will aim to find cures of illnesses. I want to help those diagnosed with such cruel diseases. If possible, i want to become a doctor too, but reality is not always that easy.
I recommend this drama series to all. Go watch it, it will change your way of thinking. Appreciate your life right now, you may never know when it may have an unexpected turn.
Went to Jm hs today, and watched some shows. After that, Edmund persuaded us to go back to ZHSS at 4.30pm...but as usual, we left jm hs half an hr later, coz jm refused to bath. When we arrived at zhss, to our disappointment, we couldnt enter anymore because it was past 5pm. so we went to F&B instead and waited for our npcc mates, but only anthia and jiaqi came. the CIs went for hiking and overnight camp at dunno where. went back to opp zhss and accompanied jiaqi and anthia to eat dinner. Then coincidentally, met Jk, weichong, lucas they all... WC came running across and talked with us, and the rest followed suite. Talk talk awhile and went home lol. Was nice to see them after a long time.
